The central beach of Portorož extends over an area of approx. 25,000 m2, and the surface is divided into a grassy and sandy part. The beaches belong to two beach facilities, which include showers, toilets, specially adapted toilets for disabled people, warehouses and business premises – restaurants with a wide variety of catering facilities. Within the beach there is an outpatient clinic, which is fully equipped for providing first aid. During the operation of the beach, there is a sufficient number of water rescuers and trained first aid personnel.
The variety of beach offer includes four beach volleyball courts, children’s playgrounds, water sports, a children’s amusement park, numerous restaurants, pastry shops, …, so that it provides sports and recreation as well as relaxation and entertainment.
The beach has a part of the aquatorium designed for non-swimmers, where there is increased observation of the rescue service, and four bathing piers. During the bathing season, the hygienic quality of bathing water is regularly monitored. The central beach of Portorož has achieved the best results for the quality of bathing water for many years.
The central beach of Portorož receives the “Blue Flag” award, awarded by the Society for Environmental Education in Europe, every year. This recognition is the most respected European symbol for quality and respect for the environment and for a clean, safe and friendly beach.
